the principle - katherine ang
Hi, my name is Katherine. I teach Chinese and Art and my students like to call me teacher Kat or “kickkat” (my favourite snacks! ;p )
I love to draw since I was as young as 5 years old. My childhood was split in 2 categories – Outdoor activities included climbing Trees, catching fishes at river, basically anything under the sun! Indoor activity is definite my most loved hobby – Art ! My parent encouraged me to explore my little world with Art. I am a happy individual with many hobbies ; Art, Reading, Guitar, Music, Drama and Dance. I believed it was because of my happy & carefree childhood. Mary Ann F. Kohl quote on kid and Art is what actually happened to me -- Art is a Place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves, and to explore what is possible.
In order for a child to explore who they truly are, ART is a great channel to achieve that goal. I always encouraged children to air their views, feel free to express themselves. Not all of us are vocal and an extrovert, some children may be shy and an introvert. Art will be a window to let them open up to express themselves. A picture speaks a thousand words, this is my belief as an Art Teacher. I guided and nurtured children through Art with lines, shapes, colors, so that their emotions and ideas can come alive thru their hands to learn to trust themselves and go on to explore the world.
